How do I alt-tab in C&C95 without it crashing?

I've been looking around but it's tough to get reliable information on the game.

I happen to still have the game installed, the only change I made was install a patch and run C&C95.exe in compatibility mode for Windows 95.

And you can alt-tab without problems? I have the Origin version.

What patch did you install?

Yes I can alt-tab just fine, with no issue. Sorry, I should have mentioned this, I have the retail The First Decade (the one without origin), and I installed an unofficial patch.
Oh hey look! In that pile of game dvds/cds a C&C the first decade is peeking at me.

I have never installed or played it, did not remember having it. Thanks for reminding me and thanks for the link.

There is also a widescreen hack, only for Zero Hour, with increased fov, let me know if you want it, it's just two .ini file.

Uhmm, no idea but I am sure there are others out there who would want it. Are these games on GOG? <checks> Seems not :-( I think I will pass this time but thanks.
For reference I used the patch from this forum thread: http://forums.cncnet.org/index.php?topic=4339.0 and it seems to have fixed the problem. They say Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun have the issue with Windows 8.1 and they haven't been able to figure that out... but I will deal with that when I get there.
