PainOfSalvation: Turns out GOG has rejected Alpha Polaris
That's too bad. It looked really interesting.

For what it's worth, I have voted for it on the wishlist.
You guys think situation might have been different if the game had 800 votes or 1.000 instead of 80?
Utterly disappointing.

So now P&C adventures are to niche for the store. I guess they got used to the big money of bethesda and disney and don't have resources available for the underdog.

Many P&Cs in GOG wouldn't be here by todays standard. Beggars can't be choosers, but how things change once you get the upper hand.

So much for game preservation...

spoderman: It's no longer drm-free on GamersGate. Requires a steam key, but many people don't have a steam key in their account yet for it. GG screwed up somehow, and the dev is trying to get it resolved.
Gosh, glad I have a back-up. :/

Gamersgate is screwed up. It's but a shadow of its former self.
Anyone knows whether Turmoil Games still exists as a developper?

Yes.

benmar: We need more games made with the wonderful Wintermute engine. Dark Fall: Lost souls is already on GOG. Other nice games would be:
MDNA games
Ghost in the sheet
The lost crown
And others: http://res.dead-code.org/doku.php/games:start
YES! The Lost Crown must come here to GOG. And also it's sequels. One is already out, but only on steam. I LOVE The Lost Crown. One of the best adventures I've ever played.

Alpha Polaris looks good, I've voted for it.
It would be nice if GOG.com can at least explain why it won't appear here. This increasing distance between GOG.com team and the community as I perceive it is becoming really annoying. I was looking forward to this game and I want to know who is to blame that it won't appear here.
GamersGate took down another DRM-Free game? That's why I've stopped buying from them, I don't even bother checking their store any more.

I have a back-up of Alpha Polaris on one of my pen drives. Not sure if it's the latest version though, anyone know?

I feel your disappointment with GOG's decision as much as anyone here. I don't like saying this but my guess is they mostly care if the game would sell well, it's not enough anymore if the game is good which is the case with Alpha Polaris. It's sad but it is as it is right now and not much we can do but to keep voting and hoping.

Dunno about GamersGate version but I can confirm the version on Steam is 1.1.0.

Devs said they will try to bring the game to Humble Bundle store (offering as drm-free) since GOG rejected them.

I don't want to speculate or form an opinion without hearing GOG's side first. But the allegation stands that GOG stands in the way. I personally don't think that GOG would reject games purely for the reason that they are niche or don't sell well. I like to believe that there is another reason that just makes it appear as if GOG were rejecting the game arbitrarily. For instance, if the developer wants to have a bigger cut of the sales price or increase the price based on the game being DRM-free or something similar then GOG would probably reject it too. It's all the more reason for GOG to be open about this.
Voted, looks like it could be a neat title. "Too niche" for GOG? Bad Mojo, on the other hand, is not?
Maybe the asking price is too high. Do you think The Moment of Silence and Overclocked are too niche as well? They are also on steam and have around the same amount of votes on the wishlist. Sometimes the wishlist doesn't make any sense to me. Like Card City Nights and Sublevel Zero were both recently released games that didn't come on release date and only have less than 10 votes on the wishlist.

Then games like Undertale still aren't here, one of the highest rated games of the year. Hope that they didn't reject that one.

I came in here to vote for it Alpha Polaris but then realized that I already had.

Another adventure game on Steam I want to buy here is J.U.L.I.A.
There are still a lot of other adventure games I am waiting for too so I hope this isn't a trend.

PainOfSalvation: Alpha Polaris GOG wishlist
Voted.

Even to people that usually aren't into horror stuff (like me) I'll never get tired of recommending The White Chamber.
This game was a true experience and it is free.

You'll never hear GOG's side. I'd like to know myself also who decides what's good or not for GOG and their reasons behind it, especially when good game gets rejected (Alpha Polaris is not the only one). I've spoke several times with a dev from Turmoil Games and i can assure you they're not greedy and not asking for bigger cut for their game being drm-free (Alpha Polaris was already drm-free on GamersGate). Also both Steam and GOG take 30% cut and they are fine with that only Steam accepted the game and GOG unfortunately rejected it. They expressed high hopes when they emailed GOG and they stayed positive even after GOG said no while i was utterly disappointed like it's my own failure. And this isn't the first time but hey, you give a damn about games you like. I really love GOG and i cannot be mad or angry on them if they rejected games i would like to see here but everytime it happens i feel more and more disappointed. Also i'm thinking if the large part of community is being lazy or just unaware of the wishlist and the voting for games.
