They took more content out of the game than a few seconds at the end of the game, but doing some research on one's own is a bit too much to ask in this day and age. :-p

Yeah, you are one (1) gamer. ~42,000 ones like their games uncensored. Sound minority oppressing the vast majority and imposing (their preferences) on it, especially through shaming or ridicule, is exactly what real fascism truly looks like. Thank you for your contribution; much appreciated!

Gay and lesbian sex and baby heads exploding are still not enough?

KneeTheCap: As it got censored and there's apparently no restoration patch, I'm going to pass on the title. I really, really wanted that game, but I cannot stand censorship. It's not their original vision anymore when stuff get "toned down" or cut.

Such a shame.
They're gonna do a comparison video with every shot that got removed/altered, so you won't be missing anything.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Never support people who censor out things. Censor is the signature of true FASCISM.
So take it up with Steam, not the developers.

It's literally insane how many people mistake the developers for the culprit.

Steam makes the rules. Developers chose to abide by them... Instead of opening up to other stores. Like those visual novels before?

Yeah, monopoly is bad. But those who bend over at its call and beckon and dance to its whims, are exactly what guarantee said monopoly's totalitarian authority. They feed the system and by choice, even worse; it's just that simple.

Still, i upvoted you. Can't entirely disagree with you.

Why are you all focusing on Steam rules? They literally said they'd be sued and forced to close if they'd kept the game as is. Valve wouldn't sue them, they'd just pull the game.

My guess is that they were dramaticizing a bit in light of Steam's policies on "uncensor patches". Even if, in practice, Steam probably wouldn't do anything more than removing the game, the legalese probably looks more intimidating when you're looking down the barrel.

Any basis for that guess?
Watching that trailer, I can't imagine what they could possibly tone down that would make a difference. Going from 99% insane gory horror porn to 98%?

Well, I don't see how any party other than Steam could be directly the problem here - I guess the devs would have mentioned such a party if there were one, if only to rid themselves of the blame. Then there's the fact that developers aren't allowed to distribute uncensor patches through Steam or its community anymore. And finally, as you hinted, the fact that Steam has (I believe) never actually sued a developer over breaking their ToS yet.

Also, if it were an entirely different party they were worried about, they probably wouldn't have announced that they will at least provide video of said cut content. That hypothetical party that isn't Steam probably wouldn't care how and where that content is released so releasing it as video elsewhere would probably also be out of the question.

Anyway, breaking the ToS surely does give Steam theoretically the ability to sue, even if they don't do that in practice, and it is in the developers' best interest to present to most intimidating scenario to get sympathy so I guess that's how that claim of the risk of getting sued came to be.

Graphic full penetration baby rape?

Yeah, they should have just kept the lid shut on the matter all along and nobody would have ever guessed that there was any censorship.

You do realise, though, that VNs also get released censored on Steam alongside uncensored versions elsewhere? Considering that the developers at least want to release the problematic content as video outside of Steam, the situation is pretty much analogous.

Other than that: these people are game developers, they need their resources for making games which is hard enough as it is - it's not like they can just additionally to the game create a distributional platform. And it's not like it's never been tried before. Seduce Me was released off Steam and it apparently didn't work out for its develoepers. It's just unrealistic. You're basically asking for martyrdom for the sake of a bit more dick in an already dickheavy (and apparently shoddy) game.

Gore and violence need to be the peak of an escalating action. If everything is blood, gore and violence then after a short time of acclimatising, it will be the new baseline. So how would you escalate from there? You can't really. So the playing experience will probably go something like this: getting shocked by the imagery -> getting used to the imagery -> experiencing only a diminished climax and with that only a lackluster catharsis. People will praise it for it's visuals, but in the end it would make a better art book.

Could be Sony or Microsoft. Having a game with more features on release (even in an unofficial patch) might violate a platform parity clause in whatever agreement they signed. While Valve might not be willing to sue them I'm sure neither Sony nor Microsoft has such compunctions. That sounds like a likely case as releasing footage seperately in a video might not violate said platform parity clause.

They can't just release a patch for Xbox and PS either since those platforms are strictly anti-AO.

[EDIT] It's probably Microsoft. Apparently they are well know for insane parity clauses among indie devs.

https://www.dailystar.co.uk/tech/gaming/614127/PS4-Xbox-One-Microsoft-Sony-Gang-Beasts-parity-clause/amp

Probably didn't read the fine print until Microsoft let them know about it when MS heard about the patch.
