PixelBoy: You are correct in your first point, the animation goes on until the movement stops, but the animation speed doesn't change at all no matter where or how far you move (unless you create a complicated script for that purpose). You are wrong in your second point, however, as at least I can't see much gliding when moving from left to right or right to left, but when there's any depth in the movement there's some gliding, and that of course involves character scaling.
But it isn't an issue with changing animation speed either. It is simply a matter of linking the frames of the animation with the movement of the character, which visionnaire doesn't seem to do. There is gliding from left to right as well, but it seems that Deponia was aware of the problem, because they try their best to always hide the character's feet when he's walking in large rooms where the character sprite would be enlarged. Still, an example from another video and one from another game of theirs. And you were right about Broken Age having the gliding problem, so here is an example from Broken Sword instead. Was hard remembering it...there don't seem to be a lot of non-3D hi-res adventure games! Anyhow, you can see in the character's horizontal walking as well as vertical walking, no issue!
