It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

ssling: Cookie consent pop-up [...] appears every time you visit site in new browser for first time or delete all cookies. And it's really hard to miss. Well, unless you block such things, like for me uBlock Origin hides all cookie pop-ups by default.
Thanks for letting me know there's supposed to be a pop-up. It wasn't showing up with my configuration.
....and yet, I can use everything else just fine on the site. Stands to reason it is deliberate. Im not even paranoid, just pointing out, everything on site works fine except for a "consent" to advertise opt out option that is vague and obscure.

This is scummy behavior. Nobody should be required to turn off a security function to remove this. This not consent at all, as nobody even knew it was happening. Its like arguing with your "date/lover" over consent when a chloroform soaked rag was involved....wtf gog staff!

Ice_Mage: I tried it. It doesn't work.
Like trying to 'unsubscribe' from spam email....
I am also curious(need to know), if the advertising is added to anything I purchase when using an offline installer?
I am not referring to gog specific ads, that link to gog game products hosted on gog website.

For context:
I use adblockers for the explicit purpose of avoiding malware laced advertising. Which is a very common malware distribution method. Bad people make a fake but realistic looking advertisement and pay a online marketing company to add it into the advert. The malware goes to an end user and almost nothing besides blocking ads can stop it, as it goes through legit channels.

Seriously never going to use gog ever again if this garbage is going to be in anything I download from gog!
This really pisses me off. Im not turning off adblocking to accomodate staff scummy behavior either. To make another point clear, I can pay gog money for product without turning off my security software, but I am not allowed to turn off an obscured "consent" option when they want to make money from me and other customers??
Because customers should not be given an ultimatum, to turn off a security function or run a equal risk of trash advertising malware.

What?

The ad comes up once you've made a purchase, at the final checkout stage. It has nothing to do with offline installers.

Thank you for your input.

Edit:
While reading several threads, I got the impression the non-gog advertising was laced into the game installers. So is this my mistake or perhaps only free games or at the checkout(as mentioned)?

I would appreciate any clarity, from any that knows. Thanks.

Embarrassing though it may be, I over reacted to my misunderstanding. I jump around many tabs and articles and I became confused over this thread. I apologize to staff and I digress. Ignore my previous posts in this topic.

Im leaving up what I wrote, as I expect others to be responsuble for what they write. I see no reason not to do the same, even when I look a fool.
As I said, these ROKT ads that GOG is trialling only ever seem to appear on the checkout page AFTER you've completed the purchase. I'm not sure how many countries this is enabled in, but United Kingdom is confirmed.

They're not part of any installer, they're contained within the website. Maybe they'd show up on Galaxy too, I don't know, I buy everything via a browser.

I've seen the same ROKT ads when buying Cineworld tickets online. They'd also appear on the checkout page, once I've completed the purchase.

I've seen so many intrusive ads in my life so these ROKT ads are very mild in comparison.

Thanks for clarifying. I feel like an idiot. I was angry at a completely unrelated thing a little while ago. By time I got back to this thread and noticed the cookie button broken, I became confused. Then ranted.

Think Ill just go look at baby animals or take my head out of my arse lol
Just to clarify: opt-out is the default state until one specifically click "Accept all" button, not vice versa. Meaning that not clicking on anything (for example when you can't see pop-up at all) is equal to clicking "Reject all" button.

When is this going to be solved?
It has been that way for long time in my personal experience
Check the attachments, mysteriously, the "Cookie Declaration"
does not have any link. Not surprising it does send to nowhere!

Or provide the direct link to let me opt-out immediately of your disgusting "new feature test"

avatar
SargonAelther: Same.
avatar
inox: We'll look into it asap.

Clownski_: Hey folks, a few words of context from our side:
We are currently testing a new feature on our redeem page with the aim of enhancing your shopping experience and providing added value in quality free offers and trials to users. This feature is visible only to those of our users that gave us their marketing consent, which you can opt out at any time by accessing the Cookie Declaration page in the footer of GOG.COM.
We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion these tests may have caused and want to thank you for your continued trust in GOG.

Maybe you just read the thread? Then you would solve it already. There is no link because it's not separate site. It's pop-up that adblockers tend to break.

Worked for me. But like I said above, you have to turn off your blockers first.
The cookie settings to opt out works as intended on my system.

But since I don't use Amazon codes, I can't tell if it has any effects.
Just had this a couple of times NOT HAPPY. I thought GOG would be better than try such pathetic predatory tactics of getting people signed up to random services they did not ask for. Shame on you! Especially when as other pointed out the way to opt out is not transparent - I thought I had malware.

To GOG staff: remove this "feature" immediately. You have destroyed my goodwill for this site.
