HypersomniacLive: Interesting. Got an example handy?
Regarding the
to replace or not to replace poll - well, I like some of the official ones better, and I like some of the made ones better (like the covers for
The Colonists,
Lords of the Fallen GOTY, and
Tsioque), and then some of the official covers are practically identical to the made ones.
But I don't really care enough any more, so do whatever others prefer.
Sorry, I meant to come back to this and then completely forgot.
I've had a look, my original claim was largely a guess based on what I'd seen so I've poked about a bit further to confirm.
Pack games where there is only one game in the pack (such as the Witcher 3 and a number of others) should be fine, the library game will now link to a page where I can find the box art automatically.
Unfortunately for actual packs (with two or more games) the behaviour is still the same as the GOGmixes, although each game in the pack will link to the cover it will be the same cover for all the games, so some work may still be required now and again on these covers (though they are rare so it shouldn't be a huge amount of work or effort required).
But based on that info it also means scanning all the ids to link them to covers wouldn't likely work anyway, as some would then become generic across bundles... so I'll probably stick with the made covers we've already got, though if anyone particularly wants an official one for a specific game I can rerun that ID manually so it gets changed.
Edit: But of course, depending on what GOG's new use case for these covers is they may need them for package games going forward and newer packages may have their own individual covers for each game... we'll just have to wait and see.
