Hey guys,

I was wondering, do you need to play via the gog galaxy app in order to get the achievements for the different games?
Or can you you launch the game from Steam as a "non-steam game" ?
I tried to launch the game this way for a few minutes and then i close it and loged into the galaxy gog app but the time played didnt update, so i think you must launch the game from gog? can anyone confirm?

Thanks in advance.

You need GOG Galaxy running for features such as game time and Achievements to be registered.

If you want them to appear in Galaxy, you have to use Galaxy.

EDIT: it might be possible for some games to get some achievements retroactively if you play it offline (or through steam) and then play the game through Galaxy, but it really depends on the game and the achievement.

Yes. Part of the DRM-free thing is that the games are quite stand-alone and have no connection whatsoever to the launcher unless they were launched via the launcher.

Also I'm under the impression that the time played function have been quite unreliable and may or may not register correctly regardless of how you launch the game.

I dun use GOG Galaxy but as far as i know from Steam, u MUST play using the launcher in Steam to get accurate time & achievement updates. I know cos i played a game i hv on Steam that is DRM-free using it's own executable file & the time & achievements does not appear in Steam so i believe it shd be the same for GOG Galaxy.

Edit: Apparently it has also been reported in another thread by some members that the GOG Galaxy is still in beta so as such, the time may not be accurate until they fixed it.

In order to get Galaxy features, you need to use Galaxy.

You can't make an omelett without eggs. Believe me, I've tried.
