this game is on steam so i asked there first. but i must ask everywhere ok? and maybe after a few days i'll get a decent answer... maybe.. i just finished playing Wanted a mod for half life 1 and i was thinking to buy alice madness returns or alice 2 as it's known - the first was american mcgee's alice which i finished playing long ago. anyway it costs 10 euro, i already have 45 euro in paysafecard so i can buy.
problem is that i heard it can corrupt / damage hard disks. there was guy who said his HD got destroyed while playing this game, another said he had to switch the SATA cables to make HDs working again.. and i myself know 2 things - my old video card got destroyed while playing neverwinter nights 2. normally i'd get smooth frame rate but during some spells like magic missile, the video card is working to the bone and frame rate very low. when spell finish, back to normal. i don't know more than this i'm not into hardware. when video card damaged, i saw "pixelated" image - there were weird colored pixels all over screen like one of those games from the 80s with low number of colors. and when i was in desktop there were white lines around icons.. and i also know that old CRT monitors could get damaged by changing the horizontal frequency to unsupported values - something about resolution. i say this because some dudes don't believe that software can damage hardware
so whatever - if you played alice madness returns you tell me what happen if you get damaged hard disk
