The concept of abandonware was born when it seemed that none of those games would ever be available again. But now, with digital distribution, it's harder to place the line.

I think some abandonware sites have started to link to GOG when a game can be bought here. That's great, when the game is sold. But if it's completely impossible to buy a certain game, then I don't see it as morally wrong. If I were a game developer, I'd prefer people to be able to keep playing and ejoying my game.

Yeah, a lot of those DOS specialization sites have actually stopped allowing downloads of games that are being sold and do have active copyright holders selling them, several of which link back to GOG as places where you can obtain them legally.
