Hello Gog Fellows !

Since the game forum is completely abandonned i'm posting my problem here, maybe it'll be easier to obtain an answer.

Issue is : I think the "A New Begining" installer is broken. I can't install the game.
Gog Link : http://www.gog.com/game/a_new_beginning

When launching the "setup_a_new_beginning_final_cut_2.2.0.7.exe" the installer asks for a "setup_a_new_beginning_final_cut_2.2.0.7.bin" which is, instead, a .rar file.
Meaning : the installation doesn't proceed because integrity check fails and installer file is not recognized.

I tried to rename the .rar with .bin but it didn't do anything of course.
Couldn't extract the .rar either.

Can someone download the installer of this game and check please ?

On windows, the second file is a .bin file for me. No problems.

Thank you, i finally found the problem : Internet Download Manager was downloading it as a .rar instead of a .bin for whatever reason. I tried to download it directly via my browser without download manager and the file is now a .bin.

Game is great fun with very few head-scratching puzzles.. as in they mostly make sense and the story is pretty good. Makes me want more in the same vein.

This problem still continues to this day for IDM. I usually rename them from rar to bin and it works or pause the download and rename it then continue. Someone should complain to the software maker about this. I find it also does this on a few other sites as well. the browser always pics up the correct extension but IDM for whatever reason wants to rename them.



Edit.

I contacted them about it and they want an exact download link to test it. Not sure they will help. Its the best download manager you can get but the service is useless. They must either not play games or be console only bunch. Most PC games should know what GOG is by now.
