Hello!

I am planning to get a new PC.

I saw this HP one:
http://www8.hp.com/de/de/products/desktops/product-detail.html?oid=22783498&jumpid=reg_r1002_dede_c-001_title_r0001#!tab=specs

English specs:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06067867?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0002

What i want/need is the GPU, CPU and RAM
The reason i would take this model is because of its size, its not too big.
And the reason i need a new one: Metro Exodus, Escape From Tarkov, Cyberpunk 2077 and all the other interesting games that are coming next year!

If someone could tell me if this is worth it or if there are cheaper alternatives, please let me know!

Those are computer specs, there's not much to be translated.

What you want to search for is a desktop with
i7 processor
1080 gpu
16GB RAM
Are you planning on outputting anything 4k? If so get the 1080ti, I got a standard 108ftw and really wish I had paid the extra to get the ti.
Also 16gb ram is the minimum for some games now, I would advise to get 32gb
The solid state is good. I don't see anything there about cooling, fans/liquid etc.
Also case, you say you want small, I would be careful again, small gets filled up very quickly. A graphic card alone can be the size of a small laptop. And the more squashed it gets in there the more cooling your likely to want.
I would consider researching gaming specific ones (sorry, I just associated HP with non-gaming), for instance I picked up an Acer Predator Helios laptop for just over £1k, and that is fecking cool. For around the price your looking at (and anything else you can spend, you could get a good one).

Nah, 4k is not planned for now.
Ok, i´ll keep the 32GB RAM in mind.
And thx for the hint, but a laptop is not an option.
I got not so good expieriences with gaming laptops in the past :-S

And if i search for desktops with the specs i want, either something is not fitting or the price is way higher then the HP desktop.

But thanks for all the tipps!

If cost is really an issue, maybe build it yourself. Its a lot easier nowadays. You cut out the middle man so to speak there.
Yes, i thought about it aswell.
But when i choose all the parts that i want/need i am over the price of the HP-Desktop ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The minimum? Really? I know a couple of games which indeed recommend 16GB of RAM, but that's about it. Care to elaborate on what games these are?

As I said, it is minimum for **some** games, I did not specify a number. Some which spring to mind, just cause 3, Arkham knight, battlefield 1. There are quite a few more with 8-12gb min, ac: odyssey, new tomb raider etc. Whilst ram isn't a big increase anymore (ssd and graphics card more important) I always go for more than I will need, it's really not that expensive and you don't need to worry about getting (well used to be an issue) all ram slots filled with chips which fill up all bays - it's an old trick to get you to replace all memory for upgrade. So I have 16gb in the laptop, which is fine, and 32 in the desktop with two slots free for upgrade.
It is of course more important in ram to get faster ram rather than larger, so fast 16gb would be better than slow 32gb

Yeah, the days of saving on a build by doing it yourself are long gone, OEMs seem to get parts cheaper.

It only makes economic sense if you want a very specific build that you don't get from an OEM. (Eg: want a specific kind of non-OEM brand case, a specific cooler setup, etcetra, ... these are not the things you're after if you're gaming on the cheap)

If anything, purchasing components from a consumer oriented store is paying to a middle man for every component you buy.. yes, of course they're making profit off of it while trying to cover marketing, support, warranty & returns, fraud, and other costs..

8GB is fine for 32-bit games as they'll never be allocated more than 2-4GB RAM, but 64-bit games can bloat out quite a bit. Eg, Obduction, Quern Undying Thoughts, etc, will technically "work" on 8GB, but from what I've seen upgrading from 8GB to 16GB solves all the crashes / grinding to a stuttery halt from swapping to disk after an hour's play. It also gives a little overhead. eg, with 8GB RAM minus 1-2GB for OS & background stuff it only leaves 6-7GB. If you have a related walkthrough open in a web browser in the background, that's another 1GB gone, leaving only 5-6GB. If you're using an APU (instead of a dGPU with dedicated VRAM), that's another 1-2GB gone and can easily take what's left down to just 3-5GB before you even start the game.

-> Just Cause 3 : 8 GB RAM Recommended / 6 GB Minimum
-> Batman: Arkham Knight : 8 GB Recommended / 6 GB Minimum
-> Battlefield (1) : 16GB Recommended / 8 GB Minimum

None of these list 16GB as minimum, though you are right: I expect next-gen games to start doing that. You can however game on 8GB of RAM without much issue at the moment - no game will refuse to start because you have *only* 8GB of RAM. Remember now that you mentioned 16GB as a minimum, which is what I thought was strange. Minimum != Recommended.

16GB is pretty much what I'd recommend at the moment, yes, but you can still get away with 8GB sometimes. nightcraw1er said some games list 16 GB of RAM as a minimum, which I find a bit far fetched at the moment, though it is probably just around the corner for some next-gen games.

A lot of modern games definitely use more than 8GB, if enough is available. Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Deus Ex 4 all took 8-12GB for me for example. So id recommend 16 as well. More is nice but if the computer is mainly just used for gaming it wouldn't be worth the price tag I think.
