I've been looking into buying a portable handheld over the last several months now, but I haven't been able to find a device that I really like (or fits my limited budget). I saw the GDP Win 2 and the Dragonbox Pyra handhelds, but these options are well beyond my price-range. So I thought to myself, I wonder if it would it be cheaper if I just built one myself? After a bit of research, I realized that the idea of building my own clamshell handheld might actually be possible using nothing but off the shelf parts and a 3D printed case. The only problem is that I don't own a 3D printer. That being said, I understand that there are very few people who are capable of taking on such a challenge, but I was wondering if someone would be willing to give this challenge a shot?

Here's the challenge. Can you build a clamshell handheld device using the following components?

Rii Mini Keyboard:

8bitdo Controller Mod:

Khadas Edge V:

Juice Board:

Lithium Battery Pack (or something similar):

LCD touchscreen (or something similar):

Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any suggestions as to what you would improve.

* The total cost for the device would be between $250-$300 (including the cost of the 3D printed case).

** I was thinking that the style would be similar to the Dragonbox Pyra: https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/pages/pyra/

What is wrong with your mobile? Is it the Potato 5xs (xs = extra slow) model?
Its an ARM processor, what wjere you planning on running on it?
If I want to play emulator on the go I'll just go buy Ipega 9087 bluetooth controller and put it on my phone and call it a day
Yeah, seems like it'd be much simpler to just take a phone or tablet and wrap it in a controller. I believe such things already exist, and isn't the Nintendo Switch quite similar since those controllers detach from the screen which you can then think of as a little tablet or something?
