KasperHviid: Klumpen0815 has left. He gave this explanation:
This point in particular is hilarious: "atmosphere rather lacking in manners and good will"
Practically every time someone disagreed with him he thought it was a personal attack and launched straight into frothing political diatribes and personal insults. I can totally believe he found GOG's 'atmosphere' lacking. He caused a significant part of that.
As for the rest, they are BS reasons that don't make GOG any better or worse than other stores. Is he just going to stop buying games, or is he holding other stores to lower standards (i.e. being a hypocrite)?
Regional pricing? Everyone does it.
Linux gamers aren't an important market? Everyone does that too.
Russian discounts are absurd? Yes, but all the other large stores do that.
'Great ones have already left'? Eh. People come and go on boards. Is this the first forum he's ever been on long-term? That's just a natural part of forums.
The real reason is doubtless time, and the rest added to make him feel like GOG isn't worth it anymore and also drum up attention so that he gets a good sendoff thread.
TL;DR Perpetually angry fan loses interest but instead of going quietly like a grownup tries to drum up drama with BS 'reasons' when the real reason is just changing time/tastes. I've seen umpteen people do this over the years. timppu: 10x "You just lose interest."
I've never been a big fan of all those misty eyes farewell threads, on any forums. I think it is quite normal people come and go, why try to make it so dramatic?
I've left many forums where I was a regular before for years, mainly because it stopped being fun for some reason. I just started visiting the site less and that's it, at some point I'd even forget it existed. Quite often I found some more interesting site to visit, or something happened in my life, or whatever. Meh.
EDIT: I guess I consider other forum dwellers not so much as my real life friends who I'd genuinely miss or something. Some of you are fun, some are not, some are nicer to other people, some less etc. I don't even expect anyone else to really shed a tear if they realized I am not visiting the forum anymore, I'd feel odd if someone did. I'm sure there are lots of people here already who fill my role in the forum even better than me, whatever that might be.

Klumpen even basically said he'd lost interest (not enough time - if something keeps your interest, you make the time).
immi101: i'd vote for moving all non-gaming related threads to a seperate off-topic forum. Especially all those endless threads (what are you reading/listing, Forum Mafia, Count in pictures...)
Due to their nature they always occupy a large part of the first few pages and other stuff gets pushed back far too quickly if you don't visit that often
Breja: Separating the General Discussion into to many sub-forums would not be good, you can see the result in the empty game-specific forums. The "political" threads are an exception, because they literally posion the community, and should be kept away from general population.
Oh for crying out loud, political threads don't poison anything. People who can't handle disagreements do, and they'll do that regardless of the thread subject.
rivervaild: I am also against those about politics, I think it's not appropriate and everything else is normal ..
What is inappropriate about discussing politics? Gamers care about politics and things besides video games.
