Any way to "fix" the stats screen? The window seems too narrow or something; my stat numbers are hidden behind other text making it just about impossible to see. I haven't seen any game options that can do anything about it. Would changing my monitor resolution work?

What option did you choose in the beginning? There are 4 options - to change resolution, not change, always change, or never change.

To change to full-screen. Then I tried not change, and the numbers on the stat screen were still messed up.

Hmm, what's your resolution and GPU?

I have a GeForce 8400 GS. PC screen resolution is 1680x1050.

What scaling mode did you set in Nvidia Control Panel?
Aspect ratio, Full-screen or No scaling?

It's set to aspect.

Try setting it to Full-screen or No scaling. If this doesn't help, then you can at least try to play in windowed mode using D3DWindower - http://www.gog.com/forum/geneforge_series/windowed_mode
I tried full-screen; still the same.

The pic shows that the numbers seemed to be stuffed behind the "cost" column...

Try to set your resolution to 4:3 ratio, e.g. 1400x1050.

Nope. Unfortunately, no matter which resolution I check, the game always seems to run the same. But thank you for the suggestions.
What may help is if you check "run 640x480 screen resolution" in the compatibility tab under the games properties.
I'm having the same problem. I'm on Windows 7 64 Bits with a GEFORCE GTX650.

I think it might be a font issue.

Setting compatibility mode to Win 98 seems to have done the trick for me, the spiderweb forum mentions a mouse issue when doing that but I do not notice anything, but maybe it's once the game really start and not only in the stat screen.

Thanks! Setting to Win 98 worked.
