I got prompted to update the game a few days ago but after doing so I can no longer restore my pre-update saved games. I can however create and restore new games.

I believe I was very close to the end so it would be super if there's a solution to this problem :D
Using Linux and launching the game via the Heroic game launcher.

Cheers

In my case it says the save files are in 16-bit while the updated game requires 32-bit.

According to pcgamingwiki, the developers provided some game save files you can download and restore from, so you can continue at the closest point where you last saved, and continue from there. pcgamingwik has a link to the save files you can download.

Update, don't follow this instruction: google search AI says one can hex-edit and convert 16-bit values to 32-bit values if you know exactly where the locations of 16-bit values are.

Good luck and let us know how it went. I'm assuming all the save files are platform-independent so would work in Linux (which is also what I'm running on).
