Do you accept a suggestion? So let's go... The game engine is Unity, am I correct? I suggest you guys move all game assets to the OpenBOR engine which can be found here: https://github.com/DCurrent/openbor

It's an open source engine that accepts any gamepad, keyboard, and the remapping is totally user friendly and flexible.

Just a sample of a game remade in the OpenBOR engine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_W7BKo-XC0

There are many others and you can find them here: https://www.chronocrash.com/

Gekido Kintaro's Revenge would look perfect on OpenBOR. I leave this tip!

Cheers!
