Hey there,

Had a similar problem on my HP laptop. The issue seemed to be the dedicated graphic card. If I manually change to the integrated card, the game runs without problems.

Cheers
I don't know how to fix the problem on Win 7 but you could just run a virtualbox emulation of Windows XP and it should do fine. (I game this way)

This would also let you run the game "windowed" even if it normally doesn't support such things. :)

OP1: Well. Try this:

Open Notepad
Inside notepad write this:

taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
start /w Gangsters.exe
start explorer.exe

Then click Save As.

Remember to save as "All files" not as as ".txt" and save the file as "fix.bat"

Save the file to your desktop or My Documents folder. Then copy this file to your "Gangsters" game folder where the game exe is.

Make a shortcut to desktop and use this to start the game.
THE FILES I DOWNLOAD IS CORRUPTED CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE ME THE REAL ONE?

THE GANGSTER2 AND THE STRONGHOLD CRUSADER ARE CORRUPTED CAN YOU GIVE ME THE REAL SETUP? WHAT THE STUPID THING YOU JUST STOLE MY MONEY TO SOLD THIS CHEATER GAME SITE? I WILL REPORT THIS TO THE FB1 TO STOP YOUR SITE TO CHEATING ALL OF THE WORLD GAMERS

The game doesn't work on my Win7 64-bit. It starts normally, management menu works great but as soon as I press "Hit the streets" and working week starts in RTS mode, game is glitching, eventually crashing into desktop. Solutions written above didn't help. Any ideas how to fix it?
Hi, I'm experiencing the same issue running Win7 64-bit. The initial videos, menu, and organisation stage of the game work perfectly, but when I click 'hit the streets' the game chugs, the screen turns on and off as if the video card is failing, and eventually it locks up. I tried all of the fixes from this thread and others, but nothing seems to fix it.
I'm getting a NVidia driver failure and recover message when I hit the streets. It runs for a sec then freezes and crashes.

Edit:
It looks like I was able to fix it based on the information in this thread:

http://www.gog.com/forum/gangsters_organized_crime/does_not_work_in_windows_8/page1

I used the Microsoft Compatibility Toolkit 5.6 (free download). I only added the ForceDirectDrawEmulation mode to the gangsters.exe (no need to use the gog launcher) and it works after hitting the streets. The loading screens have corrupted colors, but everything else seems good so far. The mouse seems smoother as well to me.

I'm not sure how to use the tool very well so I think you need to keep it open while you play the game. You can save the database and load it then run the game. I don't think it alters the file itself. Gangsters worked last year fine without a problem so its either a newer driver or my new video card.

So hopefully others can try it and see if it works for them too.

Edit 2:

Apparently you can hit install in the top menu and it will install the fix into your programs list in control panel. That way you don't need to keep the compatibility app open. Just change the existing shortcut or add a new shortcut (preferred)to the gangsters.exe.

Does anyone have a straight forward answer on how to play this game on windows 7? I thought buying on GOG would mean i could play it but i guess not. The 'hit the streets' is super laggy and crashes. I trying what i could from the answer above but it doesnt really stay step by step.

Hate to Necro but can you give a link for the compatability tool kit? I can't find it online.
So I thought I'd share my solution on running the GOG version on Windows 7 here:
I ran it with the Windows 2000 compatibility. When I ran it like that – the game stopped lagging ridiculously. I also used the DirectDraw Compatibility Tool but idk if that had any effect on it.
Hope this helps someone. Cheers.
