Hi everyone,

Every time i start the game for the first time I cannot see any words showing up on the menu screen, only blank grey bars.

When i quit the game and start it again, it says "gangsters.exe has stopped working" and I cannot start the game ever again, always showing up this error pop up.

I tried multiple re-installs and the same thing happens every time.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you for your time.

Well the games compatible with XP, Vista and Windows 7 so I'm assuming it's Windows 8 at least? Best bet is to use a VM program or an older installation of windows if you have one. As far as Windows 8, I've never found a fix and while you can navigate through the invisible memories using pictures or from memory, the game will more than likely be laggy.

If on Windows 10 then no clue, heard there was a fix for it though for that.

Same issue here... Why there is no information about the Windows 10 bug? I'm new on GOG.. Bought +- 10 games in 2 weeks: 2 of them weren't working (fixed Age of Wonders after installing patches...). Disappointed :-(

works for me on Windows 10- it fixes blank buttons/no text in game. I have nothing to do with that solution, just luckily found it on internet.

P.S. I run game in Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode- not sure does it affect anything, I just left it like this after some trying to run the game before I found this site. Anyway, just put those 2 files from link into folder with game and give it a try.

now it works, no more invisible bars.
it works at Windows 8
