Djaron: well problem with gog version to begin with is that it was not the "original official" version as it came out prepatched witha communauty non officiel (yet popular and mentionned by devs themselves) collection of patches/fixes
so i dunno how such hybrid version will react to an official patch of posterior timestamp
two: here is the copy of email i received (because i must had been put unknowingly on some annoying newsletter from stardock for preordering and betaing galciv 3)

Greetings,
It's hard to believe that it's been almost 10 years since Galactic Civilizations II was released. Despite how long it's been, we know that the game is still a community favorite -- and a Stardock favorite, too! Even when a title is "finished" and put out to market, there are always little things we find that could use a tweak or a change here and there. With the help of our awesome community and our development teams, we're happy to announce that a new update, v2.20, is available now!
To check out the full list of changes (spoiler alert: it's long!), please check our forum post here.
To update to v2.20, visit your My Downloads page on Stardock's website. If GalCiv II has been activated on Steam, the update is waiting for you in the Steam Client.

strictly no mention of gog...
though i dont want to sound more ranty than i truly am in my heart: stardock makes wonderful games i love, have some of their catalog on a drm free platform and are dedicated enough to patch a decade old game (maybe because 1) their games are that damn good that they worth enough playing for 10 years by a large enough fan base and 2) they listen to their fan base... two quality shared by only few devs and publishers, among which we also have cd projekt)
also, please acknowledge the fact stardock is one of the few game dev/publishing company of their league (second-to-aaa games) that in fact brought one of their latest long awaited game on gog on the very same year of its release (gal civ 3... i preordered it, on steam, because i had few hope to see it on gog ever... galciv 2 wasnt there yet at that time... i am a bit dissapointing not to have got from them a key for gog version as a former preorder customer, but given they entered gog catalog at 50% discount, i didnt mind, for that time and that game, to support them with my money)
As far as I know the Community patch is in fact an official patch, made by the community by request from the developers.
It would be strange if the new patch would not be made available to the GOG team. Well, I guess we will just have to wait and see.
