I bought the first one but haven't played it yet, but noticed that 2 was rated m for violence and "mature themes"? While I'm not against all sexuality in media, I don't like when the violence is sexual-related (I don't like Law &Order SVU because of the disturbing crimes).

Im also not big on violence either but a little is no big deal.

So how are these games? They look really good, but I want to make sure they're not too disturbing.

GK1 does have many death scenes. If you do something wrong, you will die, often in violent ways. In one death scene, you are thrown to the wall and your blood splatters all over. In one scene, your companion dies with his heart ripped out. But all these scenes are shown in pixellated 320x240 resolution that is probably not too scary. The game's language also has occasional uses of the S and F words. Then there is the overall voodoo creepiness.

I don't recall GK2 having too many violent scenes, probably because it would've been expensive for them to shoot violent scenes in live action, since all that fake blood and special f/x would've cost money.

I haven't played GK3.

Somewhat spoileralert!

GK1, oldschool animated, have as mentioned a few weird deathscenes, as the graphic isn't state of the art as of today, you probably won't mind them. Also, if played "correctly" your main character won't die at all. On a sidenote, you might think differently of poultry later. *snicker*

GK2 was made in bluescreen with real actors, and have a bit of visible "blood" and somewhat weird scenes, but no nudity, unless you count for naked male torso.
The reason it was rated mature, was that it is a bit frightening, almost like a scary movie, along with the amount of visible "blood" present in a couple of scenes. In Norway it was marked as age 15+ for the same reasons.

GK3, back to the animation roots, have a lovemakingscene which lasts for about 5 or 10 seconds, no particular nudity, a bit colourful language but there is a bit more blood in this one and a good few deaths.

Overall, you shouldn't be too creeped out by any of them, and the storyline in each game I find quite good and interesting. If you're older than 15, I recommend them. Not just for the storylines as much as the gameplay.

As pointed out, during the time these games hit the market they were state of the art entertainment. Based on how they have adged, I'd say they are more like a PG-13 movie now although there are some swear words.

Excellent games never the less, highly recommended!
