For some reason I can't get Gabriel to use the iron bars to lift the snake table top. I've done everything: I used LOOK on the table and tried to lift it with Wolfgang's help. And uhs-hints.com and every walkthrough I consulted said that that's all that's needed. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

i just played through the game again and i simply looked over the table and perhaps the holes to put the rods in and then i just put them in. It might be the difference of trying to pick them up with the hand icon or the operate icon, but if you tried that as well there might really be some kind of a bug there i guess.

I looked at the holes to insert the bars in, and it worked! Thanks so much!
