I am going to do a review for the whole game when Im done but I wanted to talk about the voice work in the remake since it seems to be a hot topic in this forum as well as others

I am about to say something that most seem to disagree on but the voice work in the remake is just as good if not better in almost ever case.

lets get the biggest Va out of the way first mr. gabriel knight himself. I love tim curry, you love tim curry he is a great actor and a good VA person ( I loved him in Wing commander 3) but his gabriel was so over the top it was ridiculous, plus he slid into and out of the accent so regularly it was jarring. Now the new VA to me is better, I feel like a lot of the hate comes in bc of nostalgia and bc of what he sounds like on the first day of the game. the actor at first does start off very shaky, but by day three has slipped into the character pretty great and never goes as hammy as tim did. just my opinion.

Mosley- Both Mark Hamil and the new guy do a fine job I think it is pretty even

Grace- here is one of the 2 examples where I think the original voice work by Leah Remini was better, bc she has had decades of playing the sarcastic and quick witted gf/wife/secretary. The new VA once again does a fine job but never quite captures grace.

Dr john- once again I think it is even both do a fine job. my only problem is the dialogue with the character, bc it is a little over the top.

Wolfgang Ritter-now this is one main example where the original far outweighs the new VA. The new Va for this character comes across so campy and over the top its ridiculous.

I think the rest of the cast are all very good in the remake, the only other character that is bad is a small side character, the boy who is dancing in jackson square has a voice that does not match the character at all.

anyways just my thoughts what do yall think?
It's a matter of personal preference and while I think that some of the new voice actors did all right job, I still like the original voice actors more. For the past two decades they have defined what the characters should sound like and it's difficult to replace them.
I think almost all the original voices are far better. A lot of the new voice actors are doing bad imitations of their predecessors. There's 2 that I think were just as good:

Dr. John. The guy who voiced him in the remake also did the Pawn Shoppe owner in "King's Quest 6." So now we have 2 awesome renditions of Dr. John done by 2 of my favorite actors since childhood. I don't know which one I like better.

Willie Walker. Another great one.

The only one that I think was better in the remake is the narrator. Similar voice, but more comprehensible in the remake and she reads faster.

I like tim curry as gabe in the original but being a southerner myself I can tell you his accent was completely off and wrong. I thought the two graces were both good. I did enjoy mark hamill as Mosely better though in the original.
Personally I thought the new Gabriel actor was trying to sound like Tim Curry.

The new actors for Gabriel, Grace, and Dr. John all do a great job.

The new actors for the narrator (although the narrator was also extremely bad in the original too), Malia, Wolfgang, and the tap dancer are awful and game-ruining.

The rest are mostly mediocre if I remember correctly, but I have may missed a couple of other really bad ones.
Not to be nitpicky to OP, but... Tim Curry wasn't in Wing Commander 3, that was Mark Hammil. Tim Curry is a British actor famous for Rocky Horror Picture Show, Stephen King's It, Clue, Three Musketeers and voice work in a lot of cartoons. Also, Leah Remini was in her early 20s when she voiced Grace... she hardly had "decades of experience" in anything, let alone playing a "dim-witted secretary," which, by the way, is an abominable characterization of Grace.

just checked on Curry's VA credits...

he was in WC3...

Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger (Video Game) 1994
Melek (voice) (the character appears in WC4 again... not Curry, though...)

he also did Toonstruck 1996 as Count Nefarious

...he actually did two characters in GK1... Gabe and the Gedde Butler...

He said "quick-witted" not "dim-witted." There's a big difference

yeah like I said Tim Curry was in wing commander 3, he lent his voice to a kilrathi as was mark hamil, just as both were in gabriel knight. wing commander is my favorite game series of all time.

No problem about the mis read, and you are correct she had not had decades of experience when she played grace, but look at all the characters she has ever played from saved by the bell to the king of queens, to her character in the movie oldschool, Leah is quick witted and a ball buster in all those, just as she was when she played grace. that is her MO
