OK I have not played this game in almost 14 years..am I missing something?..I cannot for the life of me get Gabriel to pick up the cement or the bucket in the first chapter

The bucket only gets available at a certain point in the game. You've to find the paw print in the mud first and then go back to the shed. Clicking the bucket automatically mixes the cement and water and puts it in the bucket for you.
