It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Hi everyone! :-)

I cannot download the Windows Installer (English) for FSW. I have tried to download it about ten times now, the download starts just fine, but after about 250 to 350 megabytes (with download speeds around 1 MB/sec) it just stops downloading. The file is still there on my hard drive, but of course corrupt. I have tried saving to different locations, including different hard drives, all with the same results.

I cannot get the GOG Downloader to work so I have to use manual http downloading. (...the GOG Downloader just keeps saying "connecting..." but never finishes to do so, the status is always "offline" and I have tried reinstalling it, configuring my firewall appropriately and even shutting down my firewall, to no avail)

Other downloads, including larger files (like the 1.5 GB part of the Ten Hammers installer), work without problems, in fact I have never experienced this with any other download on GOG so far.

I have looked up the support articles as well, unfortunately they didn't provide any help other than saying "use the GOG Downloader".

So I am downloading using Firefox, Build 20140212131424, on a Win XP SP3 OS (AMD Phenom II X4 965, ATI Radeon HD5870, 4 GB RAM, more HD).

Is anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions or ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I think I'm getting it to work though. I'm still testing my "solution", will post as soon as I have verified that it works.
Okay, so here is a little update on the problem and what has worked for me...

First of all, I have now tried to download other large files from GOG, and I got the same result with almost every download. It now looks more like the successful Ten Hammers download I mentioned earlier was pure luck.

So I found out that Firefox 26+ uses a new kind of download manager, and this MIGHT be related to the problem. However, I encountered the same problem using Opera: None of my four downloads finished at first. The Opera download manager allowed me to resume the aborted downloads though (which I had to do between two and five times again for each download), and with that I was able to finally finish the downloads.

So having some kind of download manager that allows you to resume the downloads seems to be a good workaround. I'm still totally clueless as to what causes the downloads to stop in the first place though.

I'm going to try something like DownThemAll for Firefox and see how that works.

I have contacted the support team on this as well, if they come up with additional answers/suggestions I'll keep you updated (unless they do so themselves).

Thanks anyway & have a nice weekend!

I am having problems as well. The normal PC I use for web surfing will not initialise the gog downloader for some reason.

Swapped to another PC and all is well. I also had problems last week with the STALKER series. I have never had problems before. With the STALKER series I thought just busy gog servers, but not sure now.
