I have this game installed on my old system. I have copy of save. How to import it to Advanced Edition?

As I posted in the other thread,

Advanced Edition is a separate install, but uses the same resource folder in your home folder. You don't need to do a thing, but when you uninstall the old, be sure to uncheck delete saves.
Also profile file can be found in My Documents\My Games\FTL folder.

Yes, it's different for every OS, My Documents is part of the home folder.

OSX it's

/Users/userid/Library/Application Support/FasterThanLIght

Though ~/Library is hidden by default. So you have to hold alt, go to the Go menu and select Library when it pops up.

Thanks, I know about this folder. But my problem is that I want to continue my game from the standard edition save. Is it possible? I put my save into this folder, start the game, click continue ale the game just crush.

I renamed my old save from prof.sav to ae_prof.sav. Worked fine.
That's odd, FTL did the conversion on its own for me.

Same here - it kept the old prof.sav and created a new ae_prof.sav. You shouldn't need to rename or copy anything.

Though I think Brosper wants to continue a save and not just a profile (it's another ".sav" file but I can't remember what it's called right now - it should be obvious though). As far as I'm aware, old saves are not deleted when AE is installed and are named the same way, so it should theoretically be possible to just click "Continue" once AE has been installed. Unless there's an incompatibility between the versions it should work.

If "continue" isn't available as an option then you might need to turn off advanced features maybe? If that doesn't work then the saves aren't compatible.

Oh well I know why mine didn't convert. I manually removed my save file before uninstalling, then manually put it in the new game. Um. Can't really remember why now. o_O
Advanced Edition just installed to a new folder for me. Haha, should I have changed the install destination to my existing FTL location? Oh well, now I can look forward to the excitement of getting all the ships again.
No, I don't think you can carry an in-progress game across. Finish that save on the old version and then copy the profile across.

Sorry for the late response (so you may have figured this out already), but the installation directory is irrelevant - FTL saves it's stuff in a folder created in your user directory (some locations described above).
