I'd been working a plan of earning more scrap by having a telelporter crew kill enemies. All the pieces were in place, I'd had a Rock Scout attack me, and I'd sent a 2 man boarding crew over while my ship crew disabled their weapons.

The Rock Scout fought admirably back, fighing my boarding crew to a near-tie and forcing them to the retreat for healing. I was just about to send them back to finish off the last man when I realized the Scout had not only run out of missiles, but it's puny 1-shot laser couldn't penetrate my 2 layer shield.

And then it drawned on me- everytime that enemy laser hit, my shield guy got an xp point. Everytime it missed, the pilot/engine guys got an xp point. Wait.a.second...

Since it couldn't harm me, why didn't I just let the Rock Scout shoot away and get my crew up to elite levels safely? So I let the game sit there for about 40 mins, and when I came back, everyone was at max level for their station.

Since time is quite literally on my side, I took it one nothch higher, and rotated each crewman to a new station. Now they will be cross-trained to max level as well!

Hope this idea helps all new and veterans captains alike! :)

Nice :)
Imagine your frustration if you spent forty minutes levelling up every crew member in shields, piloting and engines only to die in your next encounter.

Due to the fact that this game is a rogue like, I imagine you'd get far less done over time if you used this strategy for every run.
I got plenty of training for everyone in my torus run. The standard ion gun on that ship levels the weapon guy like crazy.
And since i upgraded my shields early on. I could shoot the oxigen generator with said ion gun till the crew suffocated. A bit cruel perhaps, but i had no trouble in the endgame after this tactic.
(i got plenty of resources training and upgrades this way)
