It says Engineers First but the task description did not specify an exact moment when to send them. Besides, the timer on the task had the same length as the main evacuation task. This is why I thought it would be a good idea to just wait until the very last trip to send them (I only had 50 engineers). However, as soon as I put all of them on the train and hit the Send button, the game reported that I failed the task because I did not send all of my engineers. I double-checked my population and confirmed I had no more engineers in the city. On top of that, there was still a few days until the task deadline so even if I did have a few engineers hiding, I shouldn't have failed the quest yet as I could have made another trip.

I figured maybe the game was counting also the engineers not in the city--i.e., the engineers at the weather station. So I reloaded my game and went to fetch them first. I had to split all my engineers into two batches because they were now more than the 50-people capacity of the train. I still failed the task the second I hit send on the second and final batch of engineers.

I even made another attempt where I made sure to send them NOT on the second to or the last trip. I still failed the task.

Anyone run into the same problems?

i had this, because few engineers died in random events. so i could not sent all amount promised, because some were dead.

It is weird what you describe, I never had similar problem.

When you get the quest "Pragmatic Approach" and then choose to send all engineers, then the game checks how many engineers you currently have in the city and puts it as your goal. It counts engineers that are disabled too, so if you decided to send all of them you need to augment the disabled few with prostheses. The same applies to similar quest "Children First".

I can confirm that the quest text in the lower left-hand corner read 50 engineers as my target. As I have already described, I did put those 50 engineers on the train but still failed the quest as soon as I hit send. Hm, yes, a few engineers did die in some events. I did not notice what the quest target was initially. Could the bug be that the game updated the target in the display but did not update the target internally?
