Playing Frostpunk 2 as a casual player who's played the original, I need help understanding some aspects of the game I'm having trouble with.

I'm really struggling to understand the core building mechanics from the tutorial. I can't figure out the basic rules for placing special buildings like Watch Towers and other Augments. There are descriptions for these buildings, but I still can't tell how or where they're supposed to be placed - it feels like I'm just guessing at how the system works.
The User Interface makes things even more confusing:

The building menu, horizontal at the bottom is odd compared to the rest of the UI.
They seem to have reused UI elements from the first game's world map without considering what happens when there are that many icons on screen. I dont know it just feels more Cluttered, and chaotic than the first.

I'm currently trying to place a Watch Tower but can't understand the Augment building placement rules. Despite the descriptions, I'm not sure what these Augment buildings actually do. The building placement feels unnecessarily restrictive. I wish I could better understand the logic behind this.

The first Frostpunk felt more intuitive to play, with building placement that gave you real creative freedom. While removing road management saves time, the new restrictions on building placement remove the creativity that made each city feel personal and unique. The simplified systems might seem streamlined, but they've removed engaging elements that made the original special - like those satisfying end-game timelapse views of your city.

What's frustrating is that experience from the first game doesn't help.
The tutorials in FP2 could really use better explanations, and UI needs clearer organization.
Right now it feels like the game needs some shared connection to what worked well in the original.
