I just installed FreeSpace 2 and am getting a somewhat weird problem. It seems like some, but not all, of the audio in the game is not playing. For instance, there are no voices in the briefings or missions, or sounds of my weapons firing or impacting; however, the music plays correctly, and there's a sound when weapons are hitting me. Any solutions? I suppose I might have turned off some sound option by accident, but, if so, I can't find it.

The options can be found by clicking on the computer terminal near the lower left hand corner where crewman is sitting. There are options there for briefing voice and volume controls - check to make sure they are set right.

If that doesn't work, you can try reinstalling the game - I'm assuming this is vanilla FS2, not FSopen? Either way you check to see if in your Freespace folder if you have all of the .vp files (tango1,tango2,tango3,stu_fs2, warble. sparky_fs2, sparky_hi_fs2, smarty_fs2,Root_fs2) - I think those are all vanilla FS2 files, but I may have accidentally put in an FSO file.
