Freespace 2 took everything that worked well in previous space sims, added the BEST H.U.D. in any game in the genre for amazing situational awareness, the best story in nearly any game, amazing action, frenzied combat, spectacular graphics that still hold up to this day, thundering capital ship combat and more, and wrap it all up to deliver what, I believe, is still the pinnacle of the space combat simulation genre. While there have been some wonderful games in this genre, like the Wing Commander series, X-Wing, Tie Fighter and so on, they don't rival Freespace 2. If you've not played a space sim, play it's predecessor Descent: Freespace, then this. You won't be disappointed.
