What is your question exactly? The source code is not the product, the source code is not the license. The game assets are not downloadable from the Freespace Open project.

And the game is well worth its (very reasonable) price :)

The game engine is open source.
The storyline, and assets related to the FreeSpace universe are not.
That's why it costs money :P
Worth it though.
