I played this game when it first released on 1998 and absolutely loved it. I am a big Starlancer, Freelancer and Wing Commander fan and this game gave me that I needed. Thanks Interplay and Volition and great thanks to GOG for giving us a chance to play this awesome game again. If you are loving space sims go and buy this game and Freespace 2. I hope Volition and THQ will make new Freelancer game for it`s fans.

Im also a big Freespace fan and would love to play Freespace 3. I can just imagine it it Hi-rez with bells and whistles and the same eplc gameplay.

Freespace 3 is right at the top of my 'wants' list, it is a shame the space sim genre seems to have died out as it is my favorite genre. However at the prices on gog there is no excuse for people not to play freespace 1 + 2.

I agree that this is one of best space sims, but i really recommend you to try Wing Commander : Profecy as well. Than, tell me if will be easy for you to say which one is the best :).
Anyway, this game roolz on all plans.

I played Prophecy, despite it being great and free from the developer (I think it was 12 missions?) it's not as involving as Descent: Freespace or Freespace 2. Plus the fan created mod Derelict (In the Boonies) for Freespace 2 could have easily been Freespace 3. It was THAT good. I just found the original Frrespace 2 intro cinematic on youtube last night. I forgot just how awesome and depressing that intro is. A passing of the torch in that intro.
I still have the old Wing Commander: Prophecy game files on a disc somewhere.
