Well I have a different problem pretty much within same subject.
When the install is finished, and I try to run the setup_freespace_2 file, it first check the file integrity, and then shows an error stating:
"The setup files are corrupted. Please download a new copy of the program."
I've re-downloaded it 4 times now, and have recieved the same message all the times, although the first time, the integrity check took only a split second before the error came, and the second time, the setup file was a 0 kb file.
And perhaps a bit off-topic, but I've downloaded using the browser download all 4 times now, and I've attempted using the GOG downloader, but whenever I try to log on the downloader, it claim that my email or password is wrong, and I know it isn't the wrong email. I've even tried to change my password, but it took me almost 7 tries before it would accept my old password, and finally change it (But GOG downloader still wont accept it).
Please someone, help me!
I'm running Vista Home Basic 32-bit version & I'm having the same issue... same error message: setup files are corrupted blah blah... tried compatibility settings / ran as admin, but fruitless. I've downloaded twice with & without the download mgr. I'm surprised it ran without a glitch under windows xp OS. Is Vista compatibility questionable??? Hope somebody would come up with a fix that works.

I had the same problem with the freespace 2 installer saying it failed the integrity check. I've downloaded some 18 games from GOG and this is the first one I've had a problem with. Also using Win7 64-bit. Downloaded it a second time and it worked. I'm thinking that GOG likely has a load-balanced set of servers that all contain copies of the games, and when you choose to download, you'll get randomly directed to one of the servers. If this is the case, maybe one of the mirror servers has a corrupted copy of this setup file.
