Hi All,

I just took delivery of a Thrustmaster T flight Hotas X and wanted to use it with Freespace Open 3.7.2. Thing is I am a complete novice with this set up and can't seem to get the game to recognise the stick or throttle in the keyboard/joystick set up, or in game. Anyone else have this problem or can guide me to a successful solution. Also looking for any online guides to this stick as the enclosed booklet is sparse to say the least. I downloaded and installed the drivers form the thrustmaster website as well as the pdf.

Thanks in advance.
From what I remember you have to bind the axis within the game, the throttle can be a bit confusing, I think you need to bind it to absolute throttle or something.

But before you do this, check the windows gamecontrollerpanel first and see if your joystick is detected and works properly. Also the game picks the first controller it detects so you could either change the detection sequence or unplug it, but since FS(O)2 is pretty flexible with controllers you should be able to rebind them regardless.

That is correct that Freespace will only detect the first couple devices in the Control Panel list and with Windows there is no way to change that order. Some people use PPJoy to combine devices into a virtual device and there is even a modified version of that to make it the first one on the list

Here is a great write up with a link to the ppjoy app that was modified. I use it myself
