It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

I just purchased 'Freespace 2' but am having problems with graphics. Pop-up hints windows appear flickering wildly and are almost unreadable. Also, on the controls configuration page the mouse cursor leaves graphic trails of itself that remain even when having left the page. At present the game is unplayable. Can anyone help?
Here is my system spec:
Pent. 4 HT Dual Core 2.8Ghz,
3Ghz RAM,
NVidia Geforce GT9400
Have updated recently.
Thanks.

I assume you are playing the vanilla install of FS2 rather than using the Freespace Open Engine? If so, my first recommendation is to get the FSO Engine. :) It really makes Freespace 2 look beautiful (and better compatibility).

If you don't want to do that ... hmm ... there was problem with Nvidia drivers and DDraw bugs, but I thought that was fixed. However, maybe try to regress your graphics drivers back a few iterations and see if that clears it up? Perhaps the bug is back ...

I know FS1 lets you choose Glide versus D3D - does vanilla FS2? If so, try switching to the other one (will need to install a glide wrapper if choosing that one if you don't have one already, is easy to do). If not, ignore. :)

For me it help if, after startup, I press "ALT - Tab" . I will go back to the desktop. Then I press Alt Tab again till I am once again have the game selected. The flickering is then gone
