I'm calling it the activitybar cause I don't know what it's called in english. Anyway, the activitybar keeps flickering in the background when I'm ingame and if the mouse pointer goes over it and I click something(like the "start" button or something in the tray), the game minimizes. Is there a way around this problem?
Edit: My graphicscard;
Gefore 8800 GTS
Edit 2: Software mode works just fine.

Hmm... I don't have vista but you could try deselecting the Taskbar setting "Always on top". Assuming Vista still has this setting.
Karl
That worked like a charm. Thanks a bunch :D
Welcome :)
Not a great workaround. Maybe someone will have an idea of a permenent fix.
Unless of course you don't mind having the setting set to that. Or don't mind changing it :p
Karl
I have this problem also.
Did you try the solution also?
Well, I'm having the same issue in Windows 7 and in 7 you don't have the option to remove the 'Always on top' ability of the task bar.

This gets especially annoying navigating the menus as the windows and FS cursors don't match and so while you might think you are clicking on the accept button to enter a mission it actually clicks on the task bar which then minimizes FS and you have to use the Task Manager/Switch to solution described elsewhere.

Anyone had any luck fixing this issue in 7?

Thanks

I'm using 7 and haven't come across this, have you set your compatability to disable visual theams?

To do this right click on the Freespace shortcut > Select "Compatibiliy" and check the option.
I have this issue with Win 8. The Taskbar does not disappear, and any time you click it by mistake, you are booted back to desktop, and then you can't get back into Freespace, and you have to kill it.

I got around this by enabling the "Run in 640 x 480" option in the compatibility settings. I'm not sure if the game is able to run higher, but I guess it's better than nothing.
