So Freespace is my first real sci-fi ship simulator, I have played similar type games but they were rather simple in regards to controllers. I played Colony Wars *PS1* and Star Wars Starfighter way back in the day and that was mainly with a console controller. I primarily use an XBOne paddle for all my PC gaming needs, and do not have a flight stick of any kind. I bought Freespace after hearing all the good things about it and said "heck why not". Initial experience with a XBOne controller is...odd. Its default setup *without me fiddling with the bindings* is:

>Targeting = LB
>Afterburner = RB
>Aim = L-Stick
>Roll L/R = Up/Down on R-Stick *...odd*
>Fire guns = A
> Fire Missles = B

It appears that the game does not recognize my triggers... or else id use those for something...

so does anyone have a good suggestion for playing with a paddle? any layouts i should use? I probably wont ever buy a joystick *as i seldom play these types of games*
