How do you turn off the hud in Freedom Planet?

I can't find any menu options or toggle keys to do it.

I figure it must be possible though. When the game starts, there's no hud for a couple seconds before it slides down onto the screen. Also, on the Freedom Planet website there's a screenshot of the game with Lilac running and there's no hud visible (see attached file).
