i never played it but werent there REAL swastikas in it?

I don't recall that being the case, no. I'm pretty sure all versions of this game have generic crosses in place of swastikas.

there has been a mod that changes the normal crosses into swastikas and some more extras:

thats right.
swastikas are illegal in germany and the prublishers didnt want to make an extra version for gemany, so all versions got the swastika sremoved.
but in this case we have a mod that can fix this problem

(3rd Reich Symbol: black right turning in a white Point in a red field.) Although we are VERY careful about swasticas and so, they are allmost allways avoided in all forms.
