Are ther eany plans to increase trade volume?

I prefer building small communities the produce a lot of something and export it to fund other stuff (usually luxuries).
However there seems to be a limit on how many goods the traders can carry and I haven't found a way to increase this?

Any plans on Cart (perhaps requiring better roads) or river boats / shore harbours?
