Hi there. Probably the devs already noted this bug, but I am curious if anyone found a solution. It has to do with foragers.

So I got some berry spots in the map, which foragers just don' t seem to want to work on. So far all those where pretty close to cliffs or beach. The foragers try to fill their needs quite far away during their free time, and when finished they walk back to the gathering hut, and as soon as they enter it, they revert back to "free time", walking away and repeating the cycle, while not working on it.

When they do that, I get 1 berry inside the building, but as you can imagine the game has become quite hard, as I am forced to expand quite far away (and pay more taxes), searching for bushes that work. It also makes super difficult to fill the need for food, as fish and bread seems super slow to produce.

Anyone found a workaround?

Hi vladimir1986,

There may be a rare berry spot that is not accessible if it is on a cliff. I can't say I am aware of any on the vanilla maps. Are you playing modded maps?

So this could be a bug we are not aware of. Please could you send in your save file for us to investigate?
You can reach us via email at support@polymorph.games if the file is too big please could you upload to a file sharing site of your choice and send us the link.

Screenshots might also help us identify where you are seeing the problem.

Save files can be found in either of these 2 locations:

GOG Cloud local repository
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\Applications\51968221750131424\Storage\Shared\Files\Foundation\Save Game

Non-Cloud saves
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Polymorph Games\Foundation\Save Game

Thanks for the reply! I am playing this game unmoded but on Linux, so no Cloudsave/Galaxy option.

Ok, this is a bit shameful for me, but the problem was that it happened the area was painted as "hunting area". As soon as I removed that layer and replaced it by a "gathering" area, workers where happy to work there.

I didn't knew that you can't have both at the same time, as other layers can live happy together (like residential and gathering).

Still odd that berries grow in number slowly tho.

I' Will keep a tab on that contact tho. If I see any real bug I' ll post it there, unmodded save game included.

Thanks for letting us know.

We will look into this as the game should either tell you you can't place both zones or one should remove the other. You shouldn't be left wondering. We may follow up with this so please could you hold on to the save file with the issue if you still have it.

Edit: I am not sure what you mean by "berries grow in number slowly"

Right. There is A savegame from the are where I had problems

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZDdMTc3trYlCtmzTlD-kwwSvMZ-qxZsm/view?usp=sharing

After I reported the "bug", got some mods to make it out for the decreased food production. They never worked or appeared (my guess is that I need to start a new game, but I want to finish this village first).

By berries grow in number slowly I mean that when the Gatherer's hut is assigned with workers near a berry bush which is outside a gathering area, the gatherers seem to walk from whenever they spend the free time, enter the building and leave immediately for "free time" (they never seemed to claim a house nearby), so the walk was longish. Every time all three do that, a single berry appears in the building, so thus the building still produces berries, just too slowly to make any impact in the game.

But there is not bug as such, for what I can see, the hunter area and gathering area look quite distinct and it is obvious they don't go together. I personally prefer to have learned by playing than having one of those tutorials that forces you to move with the keyboard and zoom in and out before getting into the game.

Edit: Seems like the screenshot function doesn' t work, so add a imgBB

Thanks for the extra info.

With regards to the berry bushes there are a couple of things you might be seeing.

Berry bushes do deplete, 2 gathering huts per bush outcrop should be about right for them to deplete and regenerate without much loss in productivity. Too many gatherers will leave the bushes empty so the gatherers will look for other bushes and walk long distances until the closer ones have regenerated.

Villagers want to live close to workplaces, they will move if the distance is too far (150m). Long distances to work will reduce the productivity as the work time reduces. So making sure there is suitable zoning nearby workplaces is important.
You can also kick them out of a house with the hope they will move into a closer house or build a new one if there is suitable zoning.
