Not sure how I managed this, but I went to place my first market stall and after rotation and scrolling around a bit, the stall no longer moved in the game world where my mouse cursor was.

I then had to click outside of my purchased land in order to place the stall where it appeared in the world, but instead it disappeared.

Guess I give this game another 6 months or a year before I try it again. :)
