In short.

Farmers seem content with staying inside. Leaving the painted area for farm fields for what it is. Is this feature waiting for implementation?

Editing market stalls seems to be buggy too. I can't add a tent for example to an existing stall later on without placing another stall but... the new stall can't be completed directly with a tent. Also if i end editing a white and red dot remain in place to be seen until i load up the latest save.

To end.

I'm very much enjoying the path the game is progressing towards. While I haven't made a lot of hours as of yet, it does seem to be more and more enticing overall. (as opposed to the very early release)

I hope the winds stay favourable

I'm not sure what you mean with the farming aspect. But it's important to understand that each farm house has it's own field and don't share zones.

Also, you can add tents to previous stalls, but you need to select that building to modify. To note, just like other big buildings, each instance (not stall) count as a single building. So, you need to edit them specifically. The easiest way is to select the market place and then, in the window, click on the particular building.

Hope this helps.

To explain the farming situation in more detail. I build a farm and paint a field. I add some farmers to the building, and they arrive but never go outside to work on the fields. They do leave again to satisfy any demand only to return again and sit idly in the farmhouse

Just FYI, farmers only are active at two points, when they are harvesting and when they are sowing. Mostly, they just sit there.
If the farmers live too far away they will have less time to plant and harvest so may not fill the painted area. Make sure you have housing available near the farm, if they currently live too far away and new housing becomes available they should move closer. You can find their current home if you examine the villagers.

If you promote the workers they will spend more time on their needs instead of work, so it's usually more efficient to leave food production and basic resource production workers as serfs.

If you paint the area too large they will also not be able to use all of it. if your housing and needs are nearby and your farmers are serfs you should be able to work an area the size of the largest paintbrush.
