(This came up when I was postion a reply in another thread.)

(This is for the Gold Box games that have Rangers and allow leveling them up to at least level 9.)

If I have a level 9 Ranger and dual class her into a Magic-User, do the Magic-User spell slots for the classes add (once she regains her Ranger abilities) or does she only get the slots she gets as a Magic-User?
Just checked my Pools of Darkness party--yes, the spell levels stack. This would be an argument for dual-classing your ranger at level 17 if you wanted to maximize spell use once you get your new class. Conversely, if you only care about mage spells, those are optimal at level 15.

Or, alternatively, if you only care about level 1 magic user spells (let's face it, level 1 spells are more useful than level 2 spells in these games), you could change as early as level 11.
