Thinking of starting up Pool of Radiance soon, and I've heard of something called the Gold Box Companion program which provides some modern conveniences to playing the old Gold Box games. However when I go to the site gbc.zorbus.net I keep getting a Bandwidth Limit Exceeded message for the site. Does anyone know anywhere else to download this program from?

That did the trick, thank you!

You're welcome. I mean, welcome to the Forgotten Realms!

I actually played Pool of Radiance when it first came out on my trusty C64! I never played any of the others though. Looking forward to revisiting it, and then moving on to the others. I won't use the cheats built into the GBC, but the QOL things like the automap and being able to type notes into it instead of writing on paper will be welcome changes!

The Gold Box Companion website is useful too because it has many helpful resources such as add-ons, hints, mods, tutorials and walkthroughs. Are you still having problems entering it? Maybe you could try using another browser, checking if your firewall is blocking the website somehow or surfing the website in The Internet Archive.

The site was down for a couple of days. It hit monthly traffic limits when I released my game (Zorbus) on Steam, and a popular indie game youtuber made a video about it.

Doc S pointed me at the direct link above and I got it. Thanks in advance for what sounds like a great tool to make these classic games more fun and less of a slog! And good luck with your game on Steam!
509 Error has reared its head again :(
Any chance the GBC could be hosted elsewhere as a backup mirror?

If not, people can use this link to save the gbc.zip to their device:

https://web.archive.org/web/20220409092440/http://gbc.zorbus.net/gbc.zip

You must HIGHLIGHT & COPY the entire string of text above (not just "copy url") and paste it into the address bar for this to work. This will auto-download the zip file
