Has anyone had any trouble with the game freezing in the wilderness. When I leave Phlan the game freezes within 15 moves. I have tried saving at move 14 and then reloading and that saved game closes out after one move.
I don't have any older saved games because I uninstalled the game (kept one saved game) and reinstalled everything.
I really don't want to start over, any ideas?

Never had that problem. I've had the game freeze a few times while I was in combat. I was sure I'd lose an hour of progress, but after patiently waiting a minute, the game started responding again. That's probably not much help, though. What I would suggest trying is to go into camp and rest until you trigger a combat. Random encounters in the wilderness are a little rare, so you might have to rest for a long time. Once you've triggered a combat, try moving around on the map. The idea is that you're trying to trigger some result other than what's causing the game to crash. Causing a random encounter is the only thing I can think of that will do this. If that doesn't work, you can try searching Google for a cheat program. Maybe you can find one that will let you teleport your party elsewhere.

Sooooo...6 years after this initial post, here I am experiencing the same issue. Was there any solution to this issue?

I imagine if you try krachtm's idea and the game freezes when your rest is interrupted, you've found the source of the problem. But I don't think that's it.

So I encamped, conducted a battle with some gnolls, and finished resting. Afterwards, I have one successful move in the wilderness, and it freezes. Regardless of the direction, it freezes.

Performed a load over existing files. Did a fresh install in a new location and copied over current save files. Same thing...one move, then it freezes.

I'm guessing I'll just move on to Curse of the Azure Bonds and load in my party...
