The copyright screen comes up and the game freezes when I try to use the ladder to go to level 2. There is no way to type anything or even move the mouse. Is there a relatively simple way to bypass this?

It seems to be working fine for me. Nothing freezes and I can type. It doesn't matter what you type. Anything works. Mouse is deactivated during this. We probably need more info about your system.
