In Eye of the Beholder 1, is there a configuration (a command switch in DOSbox for example) that I can chenge so that I'm not troubled by the config questions everytime?

It always asks me which video card, sound card and mouse (y/n) everytime I start the game. EOB2 does not bother me this way.

See attached screenshot.

A late answer but here it is. Edit the file "dosbox_eob1_single.conf" in the game folder to look like this:

[ipx]
# ipx -- Enable ipx over UDP/IP emulation.
ipx=false

[autoexec]
mount c ".."
mount C "..\cloud_saves" -t overlay
c:
eob 3 1 1 homie
exit

After that, the game starts fast to the main menu without the intro.

This is very useful, thanks!
I'm curious how you figured this out?

I actually found the solution in another thread here, credit goes to the original poster. He's the same guy who made the excellent All-Seeing Eye mapping software for Eye of the Beholder games. I highly recommend using that while playing, makes the game so much more accessible. Of course I understand if people want to play old school using pen and paper but games like Legend of Grimrock have spoiled me.

My apologies, I should've credited the original source in the first place.

Thanks for the response, makes sense that the author of the All-Seeing-Eye would know! I agree the All-Seeing-Eye is an amazing companion to this great game! Haven't gotten around to playing Grimrock 1, but Grimrock 2 is one of my all times favorites.

In the same genre, the Ravenloft games (Especially Stone Prophet) here on GOG are also quite fun. or the Steam only Aeons of Sand. Though the puzzles in Aeons of Sand can be tormenting if one is a completionist.
