I bought flatout 1 and installed it twice. And re downloaded the installer, both times when I tried to launch it said that the exe file was missing or changed. Is there a fix to this?

Do you use an antivirus? If yes, then set the flatout.exe in the trusted applications/ files in your antivirus program. I guess it takes it as a threat and moves the .exe to the quarantined files section.

I have Norton AntiVirus Online. The only way I could find was to go to the file and clicked "Exclude this program." Will this only exclude the flatout file, or will it exclude all files that it thinks has a trojan?

Generally, when you set a program to the exclusion list, only the executable(s) is excluded from running. The antivirus sees it like a "friend" and moves on to scan other files without taking any action upon it (quarantine, deletion etc). Sometimes antivirus programs interfere with your games by mistakenly identifying them as viruses (or trojans or whatever) and prevent them to start.

Now that you set it to the exclusion list, does the game run? Is the flatout.exe present in the game folder? If not, it should be in the quarantine folder (not sure where it is but you should be able to see what files are quarantined in the specific section of your antivirus application).

If you still have problems, consider uninstalling the game, turning off the real time protection (should your antivirus application have one), install the game again, set it's executable in the exclusions list and launch the game. Don't forget to turn back on the real-time protection, but only after you set FlatOut to the exclusion list. If nothing works, consider trying another antivirus*.

* Don't install two of them at the same time!

Let me know how it went.

It worked after I excluded the program. I had to go into resolved issues rather than quarantine but it is working now. Thanks for your help.
