I've received the very same email this morning, including the contact the developers part, and explained them that it wasn't useful
Their follow-up email was more to the point but still generic... gave them 2 days' time then I will ask for a refund and buy from steam, let's see what they say

It was the generic, update Windows, update your graphics cards drivers, verify game files.... etc.
No help at all. I am certain that they don't read their own forums.
** Update ** GOG have said they are aware of the widespread issue, and suggested I contact Microids directly. ah now we're going somewhere! thanks for sharing, let me check if I can see an updated offline installer
and indeed now the offline installer is 14GB in size, or thereabouts... made of five parts, no longer just two
